ISSB-8: A Resounding Success in Advancing Spouted Bed Technology

The Eighth International Symposium on Spouted Beds (ISSB-8) successfully concluded as a joint event with the 14th International Conference on Circulating Fluidized Bed Technology (CFB-14) in Taiyuan, China, from July 21-24, 2024. Building on a rich history that began in 1973 in Canada, ISSB-8 continued the tradition of excellence and innovation established by its predecessors. The symposium was co-chaired by Xiaotao Bi and Martin Olazar and dedicated to honoring Prof. Norman Epstein, a pioneer in the field of spouted beds and the initiator of this esteemed conference series. His legacy was celebrated throughout the event, recognizing his invaluable contributions to promoting spouted bed technology.

ISSB-8 focused on fundamental research while also highlighting emerging applications and novel spouted bed technologies. The symposium featured cutting-edge research and developments in new processes for producing environment-friendly chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and clean energy sources such as hydrogen, bio-fuels, and energetic materials. This event provided a unique platform for promoting exchanges between diverse fields utilizing spouted beds, fostering collaboration and innovation among researchers, educators, and industry practitioners. The success of ISSB-8 is a testament to the vibrant and growing community dedicated to advancing spouted bed technology and its applications.
